No Such Thing as Reverse Discrimination

Today I was listening to the morning radio show on my way to work. They started discussing some election stuff like everyone now that the primaries are happening. They started talking about Clinton and Obama. Now being a registered republican in Albany New York I can only vote in the Republican Primaries. It really doesn't matter because I am probably going to write in my vote. Anyway this radio station mentioned the words reverse discrimination. These words, when put together drive me crazy. I am a middle class white male in my thirties, I have not been reverse discriminated against, I have been discriminated against. There is no such thing as reverse discrimination, discrimination is horrible who ever you are. This was brought up because they were talking about black votes are going to Obama and woman and idiots are voting for Bill's wife. Election time brings out the idiots of all kinds. I for one would love to see a Black Woman in Office. I have no issues voting for a person that has views closer to me than anyone else. If I stood up and said I am not voting for Obama because he is black, then I am a racist. If a black man stands up and says he is voting for Obama because he is Black he is patted on the back. I was actually talking to a friend of mine and a coworker the other day who are both Black. My friend said he was going to vote for McCain. The Coworker actually got pissed at my friend because he is not voting for the Black person that is running. Am I horrible because I will never vote for McCain, I am a Veteran and so is he. I am not voting for "my kind" Who is a Black woman suppose to vote for? Does she turn her back on her race or gender? Vote for those you agree on and leave the skin tone and gender out of it.

Senator McCain

I am an Air Force Veteran that due to a service connected disability was forced to leave after 8 year and 11 days. Yes, I received my severance pay, but that was not what I wanted. I want to get back in the military. I remember the day you announced that you were going to be running for President in 2008. I had a huge grin and looked at my Mother and said, "Now us Disabled Veterans will have someone looking out for us." There was absolutely no way I could not support you. I am not sure if you caught that, I turned to my Mother, yes my mother was at my house helping me with dishes and laundry. This is something my mother does to assist me because of the pain I feel. I have been prescribed a multitude of medications to assist me with this pain. The side effects that I have worried about with some of these medications range from not being able to eat to being taken to the hospital because of painful headaches. These are not what some have had to deal with while on these medications. These medications have been proven to cause everything from gambling addiction to death. The worse part about these medications is the Doctor is worried about my dependence on them. It is known that these medications help me; dealing with pain makes you drained of energy. You get to this point where all you want to do is lay down and not move. How can people tell I am on medication? I am up moving around. I get projects done, the lawn is mowed and the dishes are done before my mother gets there. The Doctor told me that he is not going to prescribe anything for another month because I am too young to deal with all these medications. He wants to disregard what his duty to the patient is because of the dangers of this medication. A doctor’s job is to do a risk assessment of the medications he prescribes. Yes it is a great benefit to me to have this medication. But according to this Doctor the risk is too great also. I was reading an article over in Europe, while I was working for the Air force as a Contractor. This article was about a new study that Marijuana was found to assist people with Rheumatoid Arthritis and other Chronic Pain. I immediately asked my doctor about this finding. She referred me to a pain specialist that was a local National and he told me, "one of these weekends go to Amsterdam with your family and try it. It is legal there and I believe you will see benefit from it." Sure enough because of my position I was never used to taking vacation so I went home and decided me and my wife would take the Girls to The Netherlands and visit the beautiful country. The first day we were there I went into Amsterdam, walked to the nearest coffee shop and purchased a pre-rolled Marijuana Cigarette. I didn't know what to expect, I was scared. But sure enough within minutes the pain was lessened more than half. The Numbness in my legs turned to a tickle. The fatigue I usually feel was gone. I met up with my family and we walked around Amsterdam. The next day I went to the coffee shop again. This time I bought a cup of Tea brewed with marijuana. This time it took longer for me to feel it. I took my family to the Amusement Park over there was able to keep up with them and this time it lasted a lot longer. My wife was so happy because we didn't have to stop for me because of the pain. I didn't have to worry about being on my own because I was able to keep up. Now Senator McCain, I am back in the US. I have been a Military Member and injured my self while in service for the military. I have not gone a single day where my job has not had a direct impact on the United States Government. I have done absolutely nothing but serve this country since the Day I signed those enlistment papers. Why am I writing this? Your Website shows this "John McCain believes that America's veterans who dedicated themselves to protecting our country deserve the highest quality health care." Since I have been back in the states I have asked every VA hospital Doctor what they thought about Medical Marijuana. There have been a couple that have told me that they wish they could prescribe it since it will be a big benefit to a lot of patients. But most of them will not say anything at all because they work for the Federal Government, and they are not allowed to recommend or prescribe this medication. I have since been to civilian Doctors because they do not have to worry about the Federal Government and I have asked them. I have asked Doctors of all types, I have asked Physician Assistants, and Nurses in all types of practice and every one of them has agreed that Marijuana has some great medical uses. So Mr. McCain, I feel you have lied when you said you want the best medical care for us Disabled Veterans. You have said you do not agree with Medical Marijuana. Although Groups like, National Association for Public Health Policy, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Society of Addiction Medicine and a lot more than I can name here, have all endorsed marijuana's medical capabilities. Mr. McCain, I am not asking you to legalize Medical Marijuana right now, I am asking that you do some research, talk to some Medical professionals that do not have any Federal Government affiliation and especially talk to some Medical Marijuana patients in one of the 12 states that have legalized it already. This is too important of an issue for those of us in pain for you not to do something about it. Is it important to you? Do you hate me now?

You know I have been doing a lot of reading on a lot of different issues lately. So for now I want to show my name as Dru Topia (R-NY). Now the question is, Do you hate me? Of course there are some issues that I have read where I would have to respond by writing my name like this Dru Topia (D-NY) hmmm Do you hate me now? There have been a lot of people talking a lot of nonsence. Yes I agree the past three years could have been handled better. But guess what we will survive another year. But do not discriminate against me about the letter between my name and state. I am Pro-Marijuana, guess what I am also registered as Republican... Hmmm, Pro Marijuana is a Democrat view... So when researching who you are going to vote for pay attention to the issue not the Letter. If I want to persuade you one way or another and you are Democrat I will find someone with that letter next to their name that has the same feelings as me. Very few things are Republican, Democrat these days, Research the issue and pick a side no matter what your affiliation is. Respectfully, Dru Topia (_-NY)

Should they Punish me

I busted my @$$ to get the income I get now. I spent 14 years away from my brothers and parents, I went to shool full time while working full time and raised a toddler by myself to get to where I am now. Am I really going to get punished because my brother makes $100 for every $1000 I make? He never tried college, He looks for jobs that are Flexible with hours because he doesn't want to wake up in the morning. So he is the one that should get the tax break? Everyone says Robin Hood was a hero... He was a Theif. Stealing is stealing it doesn't matter who it is from. I am for abolishing the Income Tax altogether. Sales tax, Luxury Tax, Property Tax, that is all good. If I don't want to pay Taxes I don't buy anything. If I want to buy a 50 foot Boat then I should pay for it. 10% of my income goes into my retirement plan (Tax free until I take it out) This way I do not have to be a burden to the Tax payers. 10% goes to my Church and 10% gets split up between some Non Profits I like. I help where I can with what I can. But hurting me because I make what I do is Punishment for good work ethic and good life plan. BTW, I just got back from living in Germany... I was paying over $6 per Gallon and 48% of my income was taxed by the German Government... This Gas price is fine with me

Can't Be Democrat!!!

I would never be able to Convert I also believe: Flag burning is not freedom of speech - It is a hate crime against all Americans The Government can not tell me I can't own a Gun... I want to shoot a Squirel on my bird feeder with an M-16 I should be allowed to. People can be trusted not to discriminate - Who protects me as a young White Male? I have been discriminated against and the law has allowed it. There is no such thing as Reverse Discrimination. Discrimination is Discrimination. Cutting Taxes will improve the economy, Common sence tells you if you bring more money home you will spend more money.

Political Affiliation?

I was talking to my Uncle about why Medical Marijuana should be legal. His Wife, a retired Doctor, was agreeing with me. Me (in Pain) was explaining the benefits of Medical Marijuana. My Uncle started calling me a Hippie Democrat. I was raised in a Very Republican Family. You say Hillary at a family function and people start throwing things at you. (It really sucks for my cousin named Hillary) I am registered as a Republican to Vote. I then started to think about it. Am I really a Republican. How do I know. I believe that all Doctors should be able to determine the right Medication for a person without Federal involvement. I believe All SUV's should have back up warning systems. I believe That as a Man I have no right telling a woman that she can't have an Abortion. And I believe that US Veterans should have free Medical after they get injured during service to the Country. Am I a Democrat??? I CAN'T BE!!!

Bring our troops Home?

I keep hearing people yelling, "Bring our troops home" My question is: Bring them home from where? We have troops all over the world and have not left after every military action. Germany Italy England The Netherlands Portugal Korea Japan Guam Iraq Turkey etc... When ever we have a major battle with someone we stay. That is what the US does. Why stop now? Why stop with Iraq? Bring all troops home. How many countries have you been to and were afraid to admit you were American? I have a hard time in Canada. That is only 15 minutes from my house.
